Charoite was discovered in Russia in 1978 and is named for the Charo River near where it was found. The colors in each piece range from bright lavendar, violet and lilac to dark purple with both white, gray and black veining. Charoite is so unusual looking with its strange looking swirly strands of fibrous material that it is often mistaken for a synthetic. It ranges from 5 - 6 on the MOHS scale. Folk Lore: Enhances self-esteem, accelerates spiritual growth, and ability to love.. |
