The Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra
The Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1976 by a small group of musicians who felt that there was a need in Hong Kong for a chamber-sized orchestra aiming at a high standard of music making. The Orchestra has grown to a membership of sixty professional and non-professional musicians and gives around six concerts in Hong Kong each year.
As well as giving regular orchestral and chamber music concerts, the Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra has accompanied numerous local choirs and taken part in many successful operatic productions. The Orchestra also supports local artists by engaging them as soloists. All of the Orchestra's concerts last season were sold out and it collaborated with such soloists as pianists Warren Lee, Mary Wu and Carol Yu, violinists Lily Koh and Wong Sze-hang and mezzo-soprano Cynthia Luff and with the Pro-Musica Society, Hong Kong Voices and the HKU University Choir.
