This
is Ken Lam's fourth full season as conductor of the Hong Kong Chamber
Orchestra. Since returning to Hong Kong in 1999 Lam has been in demand as a choral and orchestral conductor.
He is currently artistic director of the chamber choir Hong Kong Voices, conductor of the University Choir of University of Hong Kong, conductor of the Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra and Principal Conductor of the Melody Makers, a newly founded youth choir under the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and supported by the Dragon Foundation. Lam's musical education began when he studied the violin under Ngai Ho Chau in Hong Kong. He soon took up the piano and organ and furthered his violin studies at the Guildhall School of Music in London. His conducting is largely self-taught but he has benefited from the guidance of such teachers as Gustav Meier and Johannes Schlaefli. In September 2005, Lam will commence study with Gustav Meier at the Peabody Institute in the US. Lam has a masters degree from Cambridge University, England. |
