Geography of Lei Muk Shue

Lei Muk Shue, which was used to be called Wo Yi Hop, is a hollow place on the half-way up the hills near Shing Mun Reservoir. In the late 60's, blcoks of public housing apartments were built, and the estate was named "Lei Muk Shue". By now, there are five population settlements in this area: Lei Muk Shue Estate, Tai Pak Tin Village, Sheung Kwai Chung Village, Shing Mun Ha Village, and a row of Village Houses such as Shek Wai Kok Sun Village and Hoi Pa Sun Village (2nd settlements).

Transportation system in Lei Muk Shue

The main road in Lei Muk Shue area is the North-South-run Wo Yi Hop Road. At the Northern end of the road, there are roads connected to Eastern New Territories (i.e. the Shing Mun Tunnels), Shek Wai Kok (i.e. Sham Tung Uk Road) and Shing Mun Reservoir (i.e. Shing Mun Road). To the South of Wo Yi Hop Road, road connection to other places in Upper Kwai Chung, Western New Territories and Kowloon (via. either Kwai Chung Road or Castle Peak Road) are avaliable.

Public transport in Lei Muk Shue

There are 5 franchised bus routes terminating in Lei Muk Shue, going to Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung, Western Kowloon, Southern Kowloon and the Hong Kong Island respectively. The number of franchised bus routes passing Lei Muk Shue (including 5 of them which serve only at rush hours) is as many as 12. Apart from route 32, which connects Shek Wai Kwok and Kowloon, all other 11 routes run between Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung and the Eastern New Territories through the Shing Mun Tunnels. All 16 routes are operated by KMB and the service provided is satisfactory.

There are also good minibus services in Lei Muk Shue. Public minibuses run between Lei Muk Shue and Mong Kok even provide 24- hour services every day. And there are 6 fixed minibus routes connecting Lei Muk Shue and Kwai Chung, Sha Tin, Tsing Yi Island, etc.
