all beautiful things

blue ridge mountain

crystal fountain

O let me write

all wonderful sights

old loving couples

babies' toddles

O let me speak

for virtuous deeds

integrity reliability

trust and loyalty

O let me share

God's abiding care

dance music and art

a poetic heart

O from me to you

for my heart is true

if only a smile I place

on your angelic face

古木纖雲山戀疊, 讓我丹青臨摹

一管漱墨文載道, 寫天倫樂事, 把人情細訴

長願此身獨鍾情, 亮節高風情操

流金歲月且同路, 隨春風一笑, 歸自然懷抱

There once was born in our hearts

a dreamy lotus of art

where our friendship was beheld

in a rich ensemble

My darling then portrayed

with a lump of clay

fingering ballet of gentle

beloved tides at a crescendo

Tender care so immense

into marrow she indents

drops of morning mountain dew

several infernos she endures

A sublime miracle

comes a lotus heart so natural

handed over for you to keep

so for history she will speak

雲淡雁斷月迷茫, 落葉惘蒼蒼

細雨煙波伏浪, 人獨立寒江

意難忘 知心倆 情如往

在水一方, 身在他鄉, 人在心旁

Scent of Autumn fills the chamber

as we reminisce into twilight hours

Warm as a breeze your usual style

I recall the same enchanting smile

Like yesterday it seems

the years apart are but a dream

Soon I am awakened to your charms

then only to feel asleep again in your arms

Episodes of the past

raise tides of memory

Ripples stir in our hearts

the ocean of yesteryears

Library whispers

coffee smuggles

Helpless chuckles

behind periodicals

Our ribbon danced out of sync

choir off key in 2nd movement

That didn't border us a single bit

we had lots of other fine moments

Blue mountain turned white overnight

years consumed with Autumn fireflies

As calm water frowns at parting wind

you are back like Springtime butterflies

Our silent years apart were a dream

Now I'm awaken to a familiar smile

Your laughter is as sweet as ever

whilst your shadow stays awhile

Behold in wondering adoration

embracing unspoken intimacy

Twenty years of innocence

and now a heartfelt legacy

曾經同窗習字 亦嘗共舞歌聲

流年春日逝水 歲月秋夜流營

二十年前舊事 如今一段深情

The new moon has risen

draws the curtain on the horizon

a shiny hook lifting the shroud

attached to a few silvery clouds

Promenade by the Seawall yonder

Spring is just around the corner

rolls of cherry blossom bouquet

nature's beauty in display

Back home by the fire place

moonlight glowing in haze

I read the Psalms

you write a song

Togetherness in tune

romancing the moon

wordlessly communicate

quietly relate

Silence is golden

which is only broken

when raindrops keep falling

they do all our talking

讀一篇新詞 添些少暖酒

偶爾觸起往事 惹來萬種閑情

與晚風共醉 隨灣水東流

Are you aside an ocean corner

or over green mountain yonder

when will we meet one another

意情濃 今夜月迷朦

Custom mansions and designer fashion

Classical music and art collections

Champagne, cars and caviar

All these I went after

When I was young

I lived for fun

Then I went after reputation and fame

upper class living, play the game

If not the Prime Minister

then I'll be a doctor

Trade for success

go for the best

The world wrapped around my finger

I thought that I would live forever

I was extravagant with time

Self reliant in my prime

But as water flows

so youth goes

Over the years I began to see new perspectives

Blind spots amidst all my years proactive

Cherry blossoms and season changes

Butterfly duets in summer breezes

Family life by green pastures

I found my true nature

Now I know where my heart belongs

And regret not having her along

To trade all my abundance

for the love of a woman

玉宇霓裳古畫名琴駿馬醇酒美人

幼年歌樓下 春夢浮華

萬里封侯 不為良相 便作名醫

成功道上 不惜青春換代價

正流茂風華 不識江流日下

踏遍青山 竟在咫尺 流水人家

悔不當初相結伴 齊共她 歌一闋瀟灑

Misty rain blowing down

finds me alone without a sound

For there lies in my mind

sentiments of every kind

Past decades of springs and autumns

often I was filled with enthusiasm

Yet sometimes life seemed empty

I lost trust, gave up on humanity

Pains and hurts that won't heal

regrets and heartaches that we feel

What shall we do with all our emotions

how do we calm a stormy ocean

But if we take a different perspective

we may see life optimistic & positive

In the realm of universal timing

mankind is just a moment blinking

What can be so important

there's nothing new under the sun

We only room and board on this floor

many had been through this door before

So when worry and fear visit

send them through the exit

If temptation and evil call

say you don't live there anymore

Sometimes all the doors are shut

stay awhile but keep looking up

Presiding over is Holy Trinity

he opens the window of opportunity

Failure and success will pass away

to win or lose are not determined in a day

Still on something we can be very clear

misty rain has been blowing all these years

蒼生

煙雨翻風 燈下驀然

數十寒暑 幾經雄心壯志

亦嘗有 萬慮皆空

千秋人世 冥冥蒼生 過度了無數次

人生一瞥 宇宙一剎 有何足記掛

煩惱之門 自能出入 那啥得失是非

到頭來 風雨依舊 從前一樣

Like the midnight firefly

our life is hello and good-bye

So why bother with introductions

just go for nameless conversations

For once you express a passion of love

she may then find you not passionate enough

And yet a brief sharing moment

may echo terms of endearment

Tender memories of loved ones

melodies with sweet resonance

Separation becomes unbearable

wine and tear stains inseparable

Autumn leaves gather & scatter

my life is in and out of tatters

Is that her glowing shadow

or just a weeping willow

She once stood there

I now kiss the air

Lets us befriend solitude

yet love the multitude

Wherever we go

embrace suffering souls

history is innocent天真無知的

Goes With a Sigh

Yesterdays are forlorn

let by gone be by gone

Everyday we are born again

tomorrow anew we begin

As time goes by

goes too with a sigh

Bitterness once harbored

While we were younger

Now remains most important

faith, hope and love fervent

Of all the people worldwide

we have once met and confided

從前種種事如同昨日死

以後總總事猶似今日生

少年時候甚麼恩恩怨怨

已無從追憶沒暇追究

A friend is someone

who we enjoy sharing our life with

who empathizes with our emotions

is not jealous when we are happy

is not happy when we are sad

with whom we not only share mutual commitment

to basic human relationship principles of

trust and loyalty

respect and integrity

honesty and sincerity

but also make an extra commitment in generous

sharing of giving and taking from each other

to the best our ability.

The kind of things we share include

Our time

to enjoy being there doing things together

Our priority

our attention and commitment

Our resources

to provide help in times of need

Our wisdom, knowledge and skill

to nurture and nourish

Our counsel

to confide without fear of judgment

Our faith

our value system and vision

Our acceptance

to encourage and support each other

in spite of our short comings

Our feelings

to open up and listen to each other

Our healing

to always confess and repent

forgive and redeem

Our love

to protect and care for each other

Our intimacy

with intensity and tenderness

You are my friend

I give freely as I wish

Please take what you can

For whatever you accept

makes me happy

I give all I want

you take all you can

and not because you should

So whatever you cannot take from me

you can return to me

I may feel disappointed or rejected

but I should not be upset with you

because you have no obligation to take

No matter how much I am giving you

you do not owe me anything

You are my friend

Anything you wish from me

that I did not give

please ask me for it

I will try my best to provide

I provide because I want to

not because I have to

If I can provide

please accept freely

But whenever I cannot provide

you can be disappointed or rejected

but you should not be upset with me

We owe each other nothing

I commit to sharing to the best of my ability

but still no obligation to give what I cannot

I am your friend

Give to me as freely as you wish

I shall take what I can

For whatever I accept

makes you happy too

You give all you want

I take all I can

not because I should

So whatever I cannot take from you

I shall return to you

You may feel disappointed or rejected

but you should not get upset with me

because I have no obligation to take

No matter how much you are giving me

I also do not owe you anything

I am your friend

Anything I wish from you

that you did not give

I can ask you for it

You will try your best to provide

You provide because you want to

not because you have to

If you provide

I can accept freely

But whatever you cannot provide

I can feel disappointed or rejected

but I should not be upset with you

A friend is someone

who we enjoy sharing our life with

We are friends as long as we still enjoy

sharing togetherness, giving and taking freely

we may however lose this enjoyment

for a number of reasons :

Sometime when our friend no longer commits

to the basic human relationship principles

we are unable to hold the commitment unilaterally

Sometimes when we are hurt

we are unable to express pain

therefore we suffer in silence without healing

or if we are able to express pain

the friend does not confess or repent

or even if the friend did confess and repent

but we do not or cannot forgive and redeem

Without this healing of everyday conflicts

the friendship may be worn away by friction

Sometime a friend condemns complains or criticizes

we feel no compassion but constant defensiveness

Sometime when we want to give a lot

but our friend only wants a fraction of it

we may conclude the friend is not being friendly

Sometime we feel we do not get in return

as much as we give out

so we angrily accuse the friend of failing us

Sometimes we are discouraged by a friend

who repeatedly denies something that we want

we eventually lose interest in continuing to be response

Sometimes a friend pressures and obliges us

to give time and energy

we no longer have freedom to give or room to grow

Sometimes one wants to escalate

from friendship to courtship

but the friend is not interested

so if there is no potential for marriage

then one does not even want to be friends

For whatever reason

the moment we lose the enjoyment

of sharing, giving and taking

essentially the friendship is gone

Some may still continue to call each other friends

but in reality the relationship has degraded

from friend to acquaintance or even less

We may still continue to share, to give and to take

but it would not be out of enjoyment

rather out of social obligation, conformity or humanitarianism

or because of our prior commitment to friendship

Often we may simply end the relationship

and cease to share, give or take

Friendship is a feeling of enjoyment

it is not what you do to acquire the feeling

it is what you do when you have that feeling
