Well it took me close to an hour to get through Melrock 05 and all your
comments so I'm gonna make this real short and list in order my picks then only make mention of what were other highlights for me in 05. These ARE NOT only melodicrock albums and I'm not going to break them into catagories. So there! ;)
Should mention also that although Andrew has had me do some reviews for him in 05 (Thanks for trusting me with those A, sorry didn't get all you gave me done but hopefully time permits me to get a few more done for you in 06), I've not heard a lot of what has been listened to by all of you so consider this my list of MY purchases for 2005 if you would.
1. Paradise Lost - 'Self titled'
2. Pagan's Mind - Enigmatic Calling
3. Charon - Songs for the Sinners
4. Masterplan - Aeronautics
5. Bruce Dickinson - Tyranny of Souls
6. Vanishing Point - Embrace the Silence
7. Sevendust - Next
8. Helloween - The Keeper III
9. Dream Theater - Octavarium
10. Allen/Lande - The Battle
Other highlights;
Circus Maximus - the 1st Chapter
Royal Hunt - Paper Blood
Thunder - The Magnificent Seventh
Beautiful Creatures - Deuce
D.A.D - Scare Yourself
Disturbed - 10000 Fists
Kings X - Ogre Tones
Disapointment for 2005 was new Audioslave.
Song of the year, tuff but goes to Masterplan's Falling Sparrow,
followed by Charon's new single Colder.
Surprise release was Disturbed as I usually hate this stuff!?
My Melodicrock surprise release was Vanishing Point, only just discovered em weeks before new album, & boy did they deliver!
Best album packaging/artwork goes to Paradise Lost (due to the fold out digi pack format I paid huge for but was worth it), followed closely by Masterplan's Aeronautics -
(I was lucky enough to grab the digi pack format of this also!)
With a new Queensryche (and MindcrimeII at that!), Evergrey, Whitesnake live DVD/CD (finally) and a possible 'I'm hoping but know it's a long shot' Megadeth release, 2006 is already looking to be huge!
Here's a rockin 2006 to you all!!!!!
