< 2001 Screaming Tour in Osaka --- by KK >
4 AUG 2001 - FIRST DAY OF OSAKA CONCERT
(This is an excerpt of my 'trip' report, therefore, it may read a bit funny. Gomen ne!)
Extreme good luck! While we were waiting for Daifuya, a Japanese fan approached us. She got tickets to sell!!! She told us she has 2xA13 tickets. WOW (yes, I will be screaming many times in the next few hours). Carol & myself immediately agreed.
After we received the 2 tickets, we negotiated again - we need another 2 Arena tickets. Finally, she sold 1xB13 ticket at 25k to Ah B, and 1xD4 ticket at 15k to Joanne. It is now almost 1800!
We ran inside the dome - WOW, our seats were soooooooo good! We sat right next to the Right Hanamachi. Sugoi, and we are only 10-15 rows down from the #1 row. Ah B was another 10-15 row behind us, but she seat is next to the aisle, not the iron fence. I could not find Joanne. (>_<)
- Part 1
- Concert started! A globe appeared on the TV screens, but it started to move 'backwards'. The words $10 appeared... than changed to 10 years. Images of SMAP started to appear... the more recent first, then the older stuffs. Everyone got a good laugh because they looked so cute (and their hairstyle = HORRIBLE) in it.
At last! They appeared from top of the stage, then slowly they descend (they were in an elevator type machine) onto the centre stage.
Clothes: Fuchsia coloured, floral printed suits, with fuchsia coloured vest inside.
- Highlights:
- (1) In this part they mostly sang those songs from their first 2-3 years, on TV, it showed clips from their first few concerts. Very funny!
- (2) Members walked to the left & right hanamachis... I am sure Goro saw our Seimei (as in Onmyouji) uchiwas!
Changing time: After members all walked inside middle part of stage to change into 2nd set of clothes, the screen door should be closed, and lights 'inside' stage went up. The effect is very 'see-through...'.
Highlights: Goro took off his pants BEFORE the doors were closed! We got to see his black 'shorts' ^^.
- Part 2
- Clothes: Blue overall with white hats at back.
Highlights: As usual, Goro pull the zipper all the way up to his throat, but Takuya/Nakai's zippers at their waist.
Changing time: They did it again, change their clothes behind 'see-thru' doors.
- Part 3
- Clothes: White (mostly) jackets/tops with black/white bottoms.
- Highlights:
- (1) It was very hot in the Dome, Nakai asked fans to 'wave' their uchiwas at them, so that they can become cooler ^^
- (2) During talking time, Takuya asked Goro how come he wore a black vest underneath his t-shirt... too bad Takuya did not force him to remove it!
- (3) Voting time: Nakai asked Shingo to pick a song (PEACE), than asked Takuya to picked another (CELERY); than he asked the audience to choose which one they want to listen - CELERY, of course!
- Part 4
- Tsuyoshi solo: Asahiwo Mini Ikouyo (Korean version) - He looks exactly like the poster - very powdery!
Goro solo: If you give your heart. Goro came out - in a purple suit, CHO KAKOII!!!! Music started, it is the new version, accompanied by Piano only. On TV, black & white movies were shown. Goro sang sooooo well! He has improved so much since 93.
- Part 5
- Clothes: All members than come out in Purple suits.
- MC (2):
- I think this part was inspired by what's happened in Secret Party - they ordered pizza and need to ask the deliveryman not to mention it is delivery for SMAP!
- Nakai is the host, than members took turns to come out.
Animation: Members in 'cylinder', surrounded by fluid... like science-fiction movie.
- Part 6
- Dance special: Black velvet long jacket, black tux pants (the 'line' in middle of pants are beaded), black see-thru t-shirt inside. Very HOT!
- Part 7
- Takuya solo: HA. White shirt + black suit. They rearranged the song and gave it a very Jazzy / Big Band feels.
- Shingo solo: Green Green. Denim jacket + jeans, with many holes on both top & bottom. But it suits him very well.
- Part 8
- Clothes: Rest of members came out, all dressed in jeans, t-shirts + white jackets.

- Highlights: This is the 'END' of the concert... but no one is leaving!

- Encore 1:
- Shingo Mama's new single - Shingo Mama no Gakuen Tengoku
Clothes: They changed into creamy white suit, with 'big head' t-shirts inside! The 'photo' is the same as those on uchiwas. Therefore, Nakai's wearing Shingo, Takuya's wearing Tsuyoshi, Goro's wearing Takuya, Tsuyoshi's wearing Nakai, Shingo's wearing Goro.
- Highlights:
- (1) Another 'rewind' - on TV, they showed footages of previous concerts - Backwards! We got to play 'spot what're the differences between concerts in Jul & Osaka! (Ans: Goro wore a necklace with small guitar & a different T in Part 3)
- (2) New single SMAC. They 'appeared' right in front of 1st floor STAND area. All of them inside a cage-like elevator. After SMAC, they split into 2 groups and the 'cage' started moving (outside Arena seats) towards stage. Goro is on the right hand side - he will be on the right hanamachi very soon!
- (3) Goro stood & sang RIGHT IN FRONT of us for long time!!! Moreover, 'cause he was waiting for Nakai & Tsuyoshi (Nakai was trying to push poor Tsuyoshi down the stage!) he spent much time just standing there and looking at them! And we also stood there and look at him.
- (4) We used the black & white side of the uchiwas, with GO & RO on each of them. I am very sure he saw us, and we even shouted 'aishiteru'... (^_^). But as usual, he did not waive back (>_<).

- Part 10
- Encore 2:
- Clothes: Still the same, big head T + cream colour pants, or Topless + SMAP towel.
- Highlights:
- (1) There are 2 'cranes' at end of left/right hanamachi. Shingo went inside the right hand side one.
- (2) Goro (2 rows away from us) threw his towel to the audience - the little girl is so lucky (we think that's deliberate, if he threw it to an adult female, there will be a fight!)

6 AUG 2001 - THIRD DAY OF OSAKA CONCERT
That night, we sat at the 1st floor of STAND area. AYA, our views were obstructed by the light towers!!! Although all of us got binoculars, we won't be able to see anything if they stand on the upper tier of the stage.
Major Differences
- Part 1
- They did not sing Dynamite.
- Part 2
- Changing time: They did a Full Monty type of dance behind the screen - very funny! They threw the clothes up in the air/at each other, but no one put the clothes on! Later we find out it must be a recording/other dancers pretended to be them, 'cause they suddenly 'appeared' at the right hand side of the stage!
- Part 3
- Game: There are some huge balloons on stage, they started pushing them to the audiences. However, I think the audiences were too busy watching them... so the balloons quickly went back on stage. Members also walked to the hanamachis during this session, (they did not do that on 4th)

- Talking time: Today, they talked about
- (1) Where did they go in Osaka? Tsuyoshi said he went to some place related to'jeans'... Goro said he can't say, than spoke to members without using the Mic.
- (2) Toilet time ^^. Nakai talked about Tsuyoshi's in bathroom... he would not stop until Takuya shouted "bathroom time is very personal time, but Nakai loves to walk into bathroom and started talking!?" Shingo also added, "he found some 8 years old 'playboys' in Tsuyoshi's bathroom!?"
Song: Today, there was no vote. Instead they were 'prepared' to sing Yoroza No Mukou. The arrangement is new; Tsuyoshi was the 1st one to sing. He started counting '3,4' but the others objected, saying what kind of counting is it?!
Therefore, each of them demonstrated their counting method, Goro did a ROCK version - everyone laughed at him!
Anyway, Tsuyoshi looks really 'scared' when he need to start singing... everyone shouted 'ganbatte' and encouraged him... he sang quite well after that!
- Part 5
- MC (2): Baki came out 1st, but after that, the sequence is slightly different from 4th. Also, they spent shorter time per skit. E.g. today, it was Nakai who keep asking Takuya (hero) 'are u hot?'
- Part 9 & 10
- Funny thing:
- (1) This time Goro went to the left-hand side of dome. He even Shock Hands (twice!) with some fans!!! (He also used his foot once!) Goro must have wanted to get onto the crane quite badly, 'cause after seeing he cannot get onto crane on Right hanamachi, he walked all the way to the Left hanamachi - but neither could he get on! (^_^)
- (2) While Takuya was singing, Goro put his mic on his stomach - where Takuya's month is on his t-shirt! Kawaii!
All in all, I think this year concert is better than last year. What about you?
