Scoring Puzzle
Here's a little score calculation exercise:
A-5-5-5
| | |
5-5-5
To this formation, if one now plays a "5" tile at the "A" spot, how many
points will he score? We know that one will score 40+60=100
points for Loops. Assume that the tile connects to both adjacent "5" tiles,
but does not make a Complete connection. How many points will one score for
Same connections?
For your reference, here are the rules for scoring Same connections:
- When one plays a tile (the active tile), one scores for every Same
connection path which starts at the active tile, except that one does not score
for a path which is merely a shorter path (sub-path) of another path one is
scoring this turn.
- A path always begins at the active tile. A path can only pass through each
tile once, and never re-visits the active tile. Two paths are considered
different, even if they consist of the same tiles, if they visit them in
different orders.
