I’ll confess that my stay in Shanghai was brief. First, it was raining the whole two days I was there; second, the place was just too expensive.

Seeing that holing up in my hotel room was an extravagant proposal, I braved the elements and ventured out on the Bund. The wet and chilly weather drove me to seek respite from a cafe where I inadvertently ordered a RMB 30 Blue Mountain.
On the way back to the hotel, I stopped off at Jingan Temple. That was about all I saw in Shanghai.
Currently (2008), there are more than 500,000 Taiwanese living, studying and working in Shanghai. Together with a significant expatriate population, Shanghai is indeed a cosmopolitan city. The city is also gearing up to host the 2010 World Exposition.
